Greystar reaches $7M settlement in antitrust lawsuit over rent increases

Bay Area coverage of the nine-state $7 million RealPage settlement announced by California AG Rob Bonta (nine-state-ag-greystar-7m-settlement-2025). It adds a Greystar spokesperson statement and lists Greystar-managed properties in Mountain View and on the Peninsula. Bonta's office said it could not say whether Santa Clara or San Mateo County properties were affected.

Housing watchdog files 114 voucher-discrimination complaints against Greystar with seven state and D.C. agencies

Housing Rights Initiative filed complaints with the Virginia OAG, California CRD, Maryland Commission on Civil Rights, Hawai'i Civil Rights Commission, Michigan DCR, New Jersey DCR and D.C. Office of Human Rights alleging 114 violations of source-of-income laws. The complaints allege, based on undercover testing, that Greystar properties rejected Housing Choice Voucher holders, imposed unlawful conditions, and refused to count voucher assistance toward income requirements.

Arizona AG announces three settlements with Greystar over hidden rental charges and junk fees

Arizona AG Kris Mayes announced three Assurances of Discontinuance entered in Maricopa County Superior Court: one adopting the injunctive terms of the FTC/Colorado settlement (with about $1.5M in anticipated restitution to Arizona consumers from the FTC fund), and two resolving alleged Arizona Consumer Fraud Act junk-fee violations at The Julia and Avana Gilbert with a combined $100,000 in restitution.

Greystar California agrees to revise tenant screening statewide after fair housing complaint

CRD announced a settlement with Greystar California, Inc. after a complaint alleging an applicant at a Hollywood apartment complex was denied based on criminal history without an opportunity to explain. Greystar agreed to review and revise screening policies statewide, notify staff of California's criminal-history protections, train specified Southern California staff, and pay the complainant $10,000.
