Housing Rights Initiative filed complaints with the Virginia OAG, California CRD, Maryland Commission on Civil Rights, Hawai'i Civil Rights Commission, Michigan DCR, New Jersey DCR and D.C. Greystar California agrees to revise tenant screening statewide after fair housing complaint

CRD announced a settlement with Greystar California, Inc. after a complaint alleging an applicant at a Hollywood apartment complex was denied based on criminal history without an opportunity to explain. Greystar agreed to review and revise screening policies statewide, notify staff of California's criminal-history protections, train specified Southern California staff, and pay the complainant $10,000.
