Greystar to pay over $1.4M for early-termination charges on military servicemembers

DOJ alleged Greystar Management Services violated the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act by imposing early-termination charges on servicemembers who ended leases after receiving relocation orders, relying on software it knew would impose the charges automatically. Greystar agreed to set aside $1.35M for affected servicemembers and co-tenants (treble damages for those who paid), pay a $77,370 civil penalty, and adopt SCRA-compliant software and forms.

settled $1.43M
